Nimet Elif Uluğ

Nimet Elif Uluğ was born in İstanbul. She went to Şair Nedim Primary School and Beşiktaş Atatürk Anadolu High School. She graduated from Boğaziçi University, Turkish Language and Literature in 1992. She also finished İstanbul University, State Conservatory Part Time Musicology Department in 1988. She did her Master's degree at Yıldız Teknik University, Atatürk Principles and Reforms History Department. She started to work as an instructor at Boğaziçi University, Turkish Language and Literature Department in 1995.  She also teaches Turkish for Foreigners at Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels. In 2013,she finished her PhD dissertation at Boğaziçi University, History Department on 'Superstitions in the Ottoman Empire (1839-1922)'.

She is specially interested in comparative history of religions, Islam and Turkish Muslims, popular Islam and its culture.  She appeared on Habertürk TV Öteki Gündem program on 7 June 2014 and 28 November 2014.

She is married, has one daughter and one son. She speaks advanced English and Intermediate German.
