Nükhet Kardam

Nükhet KARDAM is Professor of Development Practice and Policy at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey in California, USA. She is the author of Bringing Women In: Women’s Issues in International Programs (Lynne Rienner, 1991) and Turkey’s Engagement in Women’s Human Rights (Ashgate, 2005). Nükhet was born in Ankara and raised in Istanbul, Turkey. She attended the American College for Girls in Istanbul (now Robert College). The next step in her education was a B.A in Philosophy from Istanbul University. She started a Masters Program in Political Science at Boğaziçi University (Bosphorus University) in Istanbul and finished it at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, and holds a Ph.D in Political Science from Michigan State University. She was a Fulbright Senior Scholar in Turkey in 2000 and a Fulbright Senior Specialist in 2005. Presently, her research focuses on questions of Identity. She divides her time between the United States and Turkey.
