Gavin D. Brockett is Associate Professor at Wilfrid Laurier University, Canada where he teaches Middle East and Islamic history. He is the author of How Happy to Call Oneself a Turk: Provincial Newspapers and the Negotiation of Muslim National Identity (Texas, 2011). He is the editor, with Touraj Atabaki, of Ottoman and Republican Turkish Labour History (Cambridge, 2010). He has published articles in The International Journal of Middle East Studies, History Compass, War & Society, and Middle Eastern Studies.
